IPIC Submission on Artificial Intelligence Transparency in Canada
IPIC is pleased to provide this submission in response to the consultation initiated on July 23, 2026 entitled “Enhancing trust in artificial intelligence through increased transparency”, and the accompanying consultation paper issued by the Government of Canada (“Consultation Paper”).
Overview
As reflected in the submission IPIC filed in response to the consultation on “Copyright in the Age of Generative Artificial Intelligence”, IPIC remains of the view that the Government of Canada should navigate the interplay between copyright and AI with moderation and restraint. IPIC also encourages the Government of Canada to take a principled approach to addressing AI transparency in a manner that balances the protection of individuals and copyright protected works from misuse while preserving space for new authentic artistic expressions.
