Minister Bains Announces College Transition Board
On August 9, 2019, Minister Bains announced the appointment of the directors who will be establishing the new College of Patent Agents and Trademark Agents.
IPIC has been advocating for the creation of a regulatory body for over 20 years. This new entity, with the help of its Board of Directors and staff, will ensure that Canada has a modern, robust, highly trained IP community of professionals and will place the IP profession alongside other regulated professionals. As indicated in ISED's News Release, the board's priority over the coming months will be to establish the College and a licensing system to govern the profession.
The list of members and their bios are provided here. IPIC Council would like to congratulate IPIC Members Jeffrey Astle and Douglas Thompson for their appointment.
Questions regarding the new College of Patent Agents and Trademark Agents can be directed to Adam Kingsley, IPIC Executive Director, at akingsley@ipic.ca.
