IPIC Past President Interviewed for Montreal Radio Station on Importance of IP Protection
One month ago today IPIC took part in World Intellectual Property Day (World IP Day), an annual international campaign that takes place each year on April 26th that celebrates IP and generates awareness of the IP profession and the role that IP rights play in encouraging innovation and creativity.
Among IPIC’s activities in promoting the value of IP and the IP profession last month, IPIC Past President Louis-Pierre Gravelle of Bereskin & Parr was invited for an interview with CIBL 101.5, a French-language community radio station based in Montreal, QC. The station proudly “takes a stand, entertains, makes you think, informs” and the interview provided the audience with an enlightening conversation about the five different types of IP with an insightful breakdown using real world examples. The conversation also provided an understanding of why IP, IP protection, and consulting with an IP professional are so important not only in Canada but around the world.
The interviewer was also interested in learning about IPIC’s role, its advocacy activities, and the topic of artificial intelligence and Louis-Pierre provided an informative overview on these areas and why these efforts and topics are significant not only to the IP profession but to the general public as well. The interview concluded with a discussion surrounding what is the main challenge faced by the IP profession and what can be done to rectify it, it was noted that the main challenge is a lack of knowledge and awareness among the general public and the important of doing your research and consulting with an IP professional on these matters. A GREAT piece of IP advice!
