Guides to writing the Patent Agent Examination

The Canadian Patent Agents' Qualifying Examination consists of four papers:

PAPER A - Patent Drafting
PAPER B - Patent Validity
PAPER C - Patent Office Practice
PAPER D - Patent Infringement

Guides to writing the Patent Agents' Exam were developed by IPIC's Patent Agent Exam Revision Committee in collaboration with the Canadian Intellectual Property Office (CIPO).

The guides describe in a general manner the contents and criteria for the Exam. Specific content and rating is the responsibility of the Examining Board, based on their considered judgement.
