Help IPIC’s Educational Foundation win $20,000!

Published on June 1, 2022

In June 2022, IPIC is kicking off a concentrated fundraising effort in support of IPIC’s Educational Foundation, the Patent & Trademark Institute Educational Foundation (PTIEF) – and you can help the Foundation receive an extra $20,000 to help with its objectives of supporting education and scholarship in the field of IP law. Your timing couldn't be better, because June 2022 is also the Great Canadian Giving Challenge!

What is the Great Canadian Giving Challenge?

Glad you asked. Organized by trusted fundraising partner CanadaHelps.org, the Great Canadian Giving Challenge is a month-long contest during which participating charities have a chance to win a $20,000 donation.  Each dollar that is collected in June, via the CanadaHelps.org platform, becomes an entry on behalf of the Foundation in the draw to win $20,000.  Your donation, of $50, $75 or $100 could be the source of the Foundation's winning entry – and the impact of your donation will be amplified.

Just in case you forgot what we're fundraising for, the Foundation’s current focus for the Fund is to promote diversity and inclusion in the IP profession in Canada by removing barriers to access and providing financial support for IP-related educational pursuits. Administered by the trustees, and with support from IPIC volunteers on the Foundation Committee, the Fund would be used to provide educational grants to deserving individuals from historically under-represented groups in IP so that they can pursue educational opportunities in IP and achieve their professional goals. Ultimately, the goal is the creation of a robust and self-sustaining Fund that will go on to support IP educational pursuits and promote diversity in our profession for years to come – and you can help!

Your donations are always helpful and appreciated, but donations made during the Great Canadian Giving Challenge have the possibility of being amplified.  The more you contribute during this time, the greater the chances the Foundation has to win!

All donations made through Canada Helps are eligible for a tax receipt and each dollar donated is an entry for the Foundation to win the $20,000 contribution.

More details about the Foundation and its initiatives can be found on IPIC's UnscrIPted Blog and on the Foundation's website, and you can donate directly here.

Join IPIC & its Educational Foundation in recognizing World IP Day 2023 on April 26th

Kevin Shipley, Nicole Mantini
The theme of this year’s World IP Day is an important reminder that many segments of Canadian society do not have equal access to the necessary resources and tools to thrive in our profession. IPIC has been focused on raising awareness and working to make meaningful, positive change in respect of these issues. Since 2019, IPIC's Educational Foundation’s [Patent & Trademark Institute Educational Foundation (PTIEF)] mandate has been to encourage education and scholarship in the IP field with a focus on promoting diversity and inclusion among IP professionals and removing barriers to access for members of under-represented groups interested in pursuing educational opportunities in the IP field.
