Nice classification is now mandatory for all new trademark applications in Canada. In addition, trademark owners are required to classify their existing registrations as part of the renewal process. Presenters will expand on the IPIC Trademark Administrator Program course content, discussing topics such as the following:

  • how to properly classify an existing registration (a walk through of the CIPO classification function)
  • the CIPO goods and services manual
  • watch outs when classifying lengthy goods and services descriptions
  • other online tools for classification
  • considerations for foreign and international registrations
