Blockchain and Cryptocurrency: Impacts on Intellectual Property

Held on Tuesday, May 12, 2020, 1 pm - 2 pm ET

What is blockchain? What is cryptocurrency? How do these things work, and who owns them? How does intellectual property fit into these innovative technologies? This webinar will discuss how intellectual property dovetails with distributed ledger technology and smart contracts, starting with the most well-known examples of both: blockchain and cryptocurrency. From decentralized registries to automated licensing schemes, we’ll discuss uses of this new technology, and provide attendees with insight into the changing intellectual property landscape in this area by exploring patentable subject matter eligibility and the challenges of working with open-source software and technology.
