We are looking to add an experienced Patent Agent to join the Toronto office’s Electrical team with focus in the areas of patent drafting, filing and prosecution.
Marks & Clerk believes in looking at an entire business portfolio from an IP perspective and likes to take a collaborative approach with clients. Specific responsibilities are:
Ensure that patentable inventions are recognized and protected;
Advise clients and secure appropriate IP protection, and prepare and file patent applications;
Conduct IP audits and due diligence for investors in intellectual property and businesses with IP assets;
Arrange validity and infringement reviews and patent watch services;
Prosecute patent applications through to grant;
Draft arguments to advocate clients’ positions, with reference to case law.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or Physics;
Qualified Canadian Patent Agent with at least four (4) years experience since qualification;
Patent drafting, filing and prosecution
Demonstrated technical excellence;
The ability to assume responsibility for client relationships;
The ability to work effectively, both independently and as part of a team;
Highly motivated; proactive with a drive to develop the practice;
Excellent time and portfolio management skills.
